Zoey Zoric, an oil painter and sculptor based in Toronto, is deeply passionate about exploring the intricacies of how technology impacts relationships and human connection. Using figures and imagined environments in oil paint as the starting point of this ongoing conversation... In a world that increasingly pulls us into screens and algorithms, my artwork is an act of subversion—a reminder of the tangible, the human, the real. It challenges the grip of phone addiction and the ways it reshapes our connections, mental well-being, and sense of self. Through painting, I ask: How do we reclaim our attention, our presence, our humanity in a system designed to keep us endlessly scrolling? Art has the power to disrupt, to provoke, to awaken—and in that, there is hope. Artist Project Deserres Art Prize 2022 winner & Salt Spring National Art Prize 2023 Finalist.
