Yunchieh Chang

Yunchieh Chang is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in ink painting and deconstructed origami. She primarily uses Sumi ink and is best known for her organic, monochromatic, and minimalist approach to art. Chang was born in 1986 in Pingtung, Taiwan. Chang studied at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco from 2005 to 2009. Chang lived and worked in New York after graduating and moved to Toronto, Canada, in 2021, where she now resides and works. Chang exhibited her first body of work, Intuition, in collaboration with a’bout in 2024 in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The same year, two pieces from Chang’s Intuition Series were selected to participate in the Connecticut Women Artists’ Annual National Open Juried Exhibition at the Slater Memorial Museum in Norwich, CT. Chang's work revolves around Eastern philosophy, Zen wisdom, psychology, human behavior, and the mind. Her pieces explore the subconscious and the intricate patterns of human thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Notable projects that exemplify these themes are the "Intuition Series” and the “Introversion Series”, which delve into the often unspoken aspects of human experience.
