Sophia Kyungwon Kim is a Toronto-based visual artist currently pursuing her MFA at OCAD University, where she also earned her BFA in Drawing and Painting. Working across painting, textile-based sculpture, and sculptural installation, her practice engages material relationships, lived experience, and everyday systems of care. Informed by her background as a former police officer in Korea and her life as an immigrant and mother of four, Kim transforms ordinary materials and gestures into forms that reflect interconnection, resilience, and quiet persistence. She participated in the Florence Biennale (2025) and has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Canada and internationally.
