I am a Korean artist based in Canada since 2021. A former university professor of architecture in Korea and a former director of an art gallery in France, I began my career as a visual artist in France in 2020. Since then, my work has been presented internationally. Although music has always been central to my life, growing up in a musical family, I initially pursued other disciplines for complex, interconnected systems. I completed my undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering, followed by graduate studies in architecture in the U.S., and conducted research in architectural history in France. These experiences shaped my thinking, blending scientific structure with artistic intuition. My practice is inspired by Goethe’s thought, “architecture is frozen music.” Listening to music, each composition unfolds as a narrative shaped by human life, nature, or culture. I perceive the movement of notes as a dynamic structure, which deepens my understanding of its inner logic and guides me to translate musical experiences into visual form. Music emerges from the interplay of multiple sounds, generating layered images that I interpret in my work.
