Main

Nada Nesin Born in Novi Sad, Serbia, my first encounter with photography came when my brilliant father brought home a 1950 Altissa Altix 35mm camera, which I was allowed to use by myself for the first time as a six year old, on a school trip to Tara mountain. From that moment, I was hooked! First time I had a chance to work in a darkroom when I was 12 years old, and my school offered a darkroom course as an elective. At seventeen, I finally had my own camera (an Olympus OM1n) and I began to photograph the events and rich culture of Belgrade. At eighteen I won a highly competitive scholarship to medical school, but kept up my photography, renting a few extra cameras for my first professional gig, covering the National Class car racing circuit. From there I began to take on all kinds of documentary photographic work, to help me get by while my studies were underway, covering weddings, concerts and celebrations of all kinds. Still a broke student, but impatient to get started, I earned the money for my first darkroom (which of course, took up most of our bathroom) with some smart betting on local sports teams, at age twenty. Now I work in big-data, and devote every holiday to travelling the world (another habit I picked up young, when a euro-rail-pass would connect you to half of western culture, cheap!) I love making friends all around the world. Above all – I walk and watch – always exploring even the areas I know well, with a fresh eye and the patience to catch the shot in-camera (no digital trickery or after-processing, let far alone AI) nowadays equipped with a Sony Alpha, Nikon 750, Sony DSC-RX100VA and an Insta 360 (on my motorcycle).
