Mary Ann Slater

Marmora, Ontario

Booth 408

Main

Mary Ann Slater is a realism painter whose work quietly explores the relationship between nature, memory, and the passage of time. In highly detailed compositions, she pairs timeworn objects with elements from the natural world, inviting reflection, wonder, and a sense of stillness. A former resident of Toronto, she now lives in a small Ontario town, where she keeps a hobby farm and draws inspiration from the slower rhythms of rural life. Her paintings begin with carefully arranged still life scenes, composed from a personal collection of found objects and photographs taken in her gardens, then rendered in delicate layers of acrylic paint. Her work is an invitation to pause and notice the beauty in what time quietly leaves behind, the way life continues to grow around the edges of what slips from view.
