I am a lifelong practitioner of people-watching and cultural observation. I love human faces, and human stories, and particularly the stories we tell about the most famous faces. In my art practice, I take in figures of celebrity and pop-culture, and reimagine them. What if one thing was different? (What if Kermit and Miss Piggy replaced Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman? What if Gord Downie won Olympic gold?) I love to create a sense of surprise and even a laugh, putting a well-known star or character in a previously unimagined light.
