Kelly Rose Adams is a contemporary painter based in Toronto. She has a BFA in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University (2018). Adams currently uses oil painting as a selective visual diary. She is interested in how noticing, then documenting everyday sights, objects, and encounters, can reveal the beauty in ordinary, or unexpected places. Adams’ approach involves quickly capturing fleeting moments via cell phone photo, and using these images as a starting point for the slow, considered process of committing those moments to canvas. It is a constant practice of consciously searching for meaning in the mundane scenes around us, creating through the selective documentation of reality, elevating personal, domestic scenes into the realm of art.
