Judith Geher (b. 1970, Toronto, Canada) examines the visual language of fashion and advertising through the intimate lens of self-representation. Working in drawing and painting, she reinterprets found imagery through a subjective, layered process that transforms mass-produced images into personal narrative. Her figurative works oscillate between longing and resistance — drawn to ideals of beauty while simultaneously unraveling them. Through iterative mark-making, partial erasure, and material shifts, Geher allows memory, identity, and ambiguity to surface. The resulting figures hover between recognition and abstraction, functioning as quiet, evolving self-portraits. Geher holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Toronto. She has presented solo exhibitions at Parts Gallery, Toronto, and Herringer Kiss Gallery, Calgary, and has participated in exhibitions at First Canadian Place Gallery, Toronto; John B. Aird Gallery, Toronto; 401 Richmond, Toronto; Gladstone Hotel, Toronto; and the Toronto International Art Fair with Parts Gallery, among others. She is represented by Art Interiors in Toronto and Ashdale Gallery in Vancouver. Geher currently lives and works in Toronto.
