Jilly Frances

North York, Ontario

Booth 639

Main

Earmarking the residue of daily life, Jilly Frances recognizes the ever-changing nature of time and light, reflecting back to us moments that are both present and fleeting. Capturing transience in the form of nuanced portraiture, the work strives to imbue ephemera with a sense of permanence. Featuring her Ground series, inks are made using natural materials from the street or soil, revealing themselves self-reflectively, as living colour. Plant matter and daily debris in passing are dripped onto cotton, staining a portrait of colour itself that remains very much alive, carrying its memory past its time.
