Diana Rosa (b.1971) creates narrative paintings that often focus on the human’s emotions and animals as a protagonist. In these intimate scenarios, she captures the human figure immersed in various leisurely pursuits and moments of deep reflection. Engaging with themes of spirituality and self, her paintings uncover hidden stories and conjure dreamlike spaces. She employed a Folk-Art style to explore questions of identity, love, relationship and environment in our society. With a background in curatorial studies, Diana Rosa paints with an acute awareness of the female gaze, employing deeply colorful hues and exotic environment. Diana Rosa received her Bachelor in Art History from the Oriente University in Cuba. Also, she completed the course Modern Art and Ideas, Museum of Modern Art, New York (2016) online learning and Art History: Renaissance Art to Present, Sotheby’s’ Institute of Art, New York (2019) online learning.
