Bianca Artemida Nam is a Canadian artist based in Owen Sound, Ontario and recently received her BFA (Hons) with a major in Drawing and Painting, from the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, Ontario. Her practice focuses on the re-using and rebirth of images and concepts through methodologies like; collage, installation and painting in an expanded field. Her work is deeply influenced by outdoor scenery and the cross pollination of analogue and digital medias; combining both synthetic and organic to illustrate a metamorphosis with each collage and installation. Similar to that of a plant, Nam's process is rooted in various states of being; making analogue, hand-cut collages using National Geographic magazines, to using Photoshop to create an abundance of dynamically vivid, digital collages. Nam views each of her collages as individual organisms. Though abstract in form, the collages take on various shapes, ranging from insects like butterflies and mantises to floral-like entities.
