Alex R.M. Thompson is an Edmonton-based artist whose practice is rooted in printmaking and reflects on city-building and the way it shapes human behaviours, ambitions, and social and political structures. His work borrows from the architectural environment, creating evocative spaces and viewer-activated experiences that point to our direct influence on the world around us. He has brought his approach toward imposing, anxiety-laden, and playful urban imaginings to audiences around North and South America and Europe, and he teaches drawing and printmaking at the University of Alberta and MacEwan University.
